😴 Potential Sleepers: Battle Styles - Empoleon V (Alternate Art) #146

🏆 Card of the Week: This card’s mind-bending architecture is widely seen as an homage to M.C. Escher’s 1953 lithograph Relativity, echoing impossible staircases and warped gravity to reflect Palkia’s control over space.

📰 TCG News

Note: Some updates may touch on wider Pokémon news beyond the TCG.

🔵 Palworld now coming for Pokémon TCG's lunch with its own card game

Pocketpair has partnered with TCG specialist Bushiroad to launch the "Palworld Official Card Game" on July 30, 2026. This 2-player competitive game will adapt core mechanics from the video game, including resource management and base building.

The first set will feature all-new illustrations for Pals like Lamball and Chillet rather than reused assets. The announcement comes amid Pocketpair's ongoing high-profile patent litigation with Nintendo and The Pokémon Company. (Source: Polygon)

🔵 “Nullifying Zero” All 80 Main Set Cards Revealed!

The complete 80-card main set for Japan's Nullifying Zero has been unveiled ahead of its January 23 release. The expansion features the return of Mega Evolution with headline cards like Mega Zygarde ex, Mega Clefable ex, and Mega Starmie ex. These cards will form the core of the upcoming English set Perfect Order, launching in March. (Source: PokeBeach)

🔵 “2025 World Championship Decks” Revealed for April!

Releasing April 3, 2026, for $19.99 each, these four replica decks feature the top performers from the 2025 Anaheim Worlds: Masters Champion Riley McKay (Gardevoir ex), Seniors Champion Liao Fu Guan (Gholdengo ex), Juniors Champion Yuya Okita (Raging Bolt ex), and Finalist Jose Cruz Galindo-Resendiz (Dragapult ex). Each deck includes a pin and accessories, though the cards feature special backs and are not tournament legal. (Source: PokeBeach)

🔢 Card Market Highlights

📦 Sealed Product Market Highlights

🔵 B&W Next Destinies Booster Box Sells for $11.75k

Listing

This booster box from the Black & White era, best known for introducing the "Pokémon-EX" mechanic and textured Full Art cards.

Sealed Type - Year: Booster Box - 2012

Contents: 36 Booster Packs

Market Insight: This auction sale represents a significant jump, rising ~24% from the $7,100 sale in August 2025 and showing a massive gain of ~120% since the $4,000 sale recorded in February 2025.

🔵 Japanese D&P 1st Edition Space Time Creation Booster Box Sells for $4k

Listing

This box contains the first Japanese expansion of the D&P era, which introduced Lv. X cards. The 1st Edition stamp of course marks this as the initial, limited print run.

Sealed Type - Year: Booster Box - 2006

Contents: 20 packs

Market Insight: Even for the unlimited version of this booster box, sales and price data are extremely scarce but this sale is in line with similar D&P era booster box sales in Japanese. For example, a D&P Moonlit Pursuit booster sold for ~$4k in November 2025.

🔵 2010 Entei Tin Sells for $2.1k

Listing

Sealed Type - Year: Collector’s Tin - 2010

Contents: 4 Vintage Booster Packs (HGSS & Platinum Era) & Shiny Entei Promo

Market Insight: The $2.1k price tag is driven by the extreme desirability of sealed vintage tins that contain HGSS and Platinum eras (~$250), combined with the collectability of the Shiny Entei promo which actually has 0 cards in a PSA 10. A set of 3 of these tins (Entei, Suicune, Raikou) sold for $5k this week.

⭐ Singles & Graded Cards Highlights

🔵 PSA 10 D&P Reverse Holo Snorlax Sells for $12k

Listing

This is a Rare Reverse Holofoil Snorlax (37/130) from the 2007 Diamond & Pearl base set. While the non-holo and standard holo versions of this card are relatively common, the reverse holofoil variant is notoriously difficult to find.

Singles Type - Condition: Graded - PSA 10

Set Name - Year: Diamond & Pearl - 2007

Market Insight: There are no adequate graded comparisons but near mint ungraded copies of this card average ~$54. As a pop 1 card in a PSA 10, this price reflects the obvious scarcity premium where no comparable public sales exist for the grade, forcing bidders to set a new market ceiling.

🔵 PSA 10 Best of XY Delinquent Sells for $2.85k

Listing

This Full Art Supporter was released in the Japanese-exclusive "High Class Pack Best of XY" and features artwork by Sanosuke Sakuma. The Best of XY set is a massive 171-card compilation that served as a final celebration of the XY era, featuring high-quality reprints and unique alternate-art cards.

Singles Type - Condition: Graded - PSA 10

Set Name - Year: The Best of XY - 2017

Market Insight: This price marks a significant recovery (~50% vs September 2025 sale of $1,900 and ~94% vs February 2025 sale of $1,469).

🔵 Japanese Start Deck 100 Pikachu #764 Sells for $620

Listing

The Pokémon Start Deck 100 collection works as a "gacha" or blind box system, where each package contains one random, pre-built 60-card deck out of 101 possible unique decks (the 101st is a “God Deck” featuring the art rare chase cards).

Singles Type - Condition: Raw - Near Mint

Set Name - Year: Start Deck 100 Battle Collection (Japanese) - 2025

Market Insight: The $620 sale reflects the extreme difficulty of pulling this specific single because of the Gacha nature of this set. But also Japanese cards always carry a premium on release until the English counterparts release.

🕰️ Vintage & Niche Market Highlights

🔵 Pokemon Topps Chrome Trading Cards Series 1 Box Sells for $18k

Listing

This Series 1 Chrome box is highly coveted because it contains the first appearances of the original 151 Pokémon in the premium Chrome finish. The top chase of this set Charizard Tekno #6 sold for $35k in 2023 (in a PSA 10 - 13 / 58).

Origin Source - Year: Topps - 2000

Market Insight: This sale represents a significant climb from 2025 values, up ~16% vs the June 2025 sale of $15,500 and ~33% vs the January 2025 sale of $13,500. These boxes are the only source for the elusive "Spectra," "Sparkle" (1:10 packs), and "Tekno" (1:15 packs) parallels, which drive individual card prices into the thousands.

🔵 PSA 10 1st Edition Neo Genesis Heracross Sells for $15k

Listing

This card is a standard holo rare from the first Neo-era expansion, marking the debut of the Johto region in the TCG. There are 27 copies of this card in a PSA 10 out of a total 2,491 graded.

Origin Source - Year: Neo Genesis - 2000

Market Insight: This price marks a massive jump (~130% vs September 2025 sale of $6,500 and ~280% vs May 2025 sale of $3,938). While the price is significant, the newer certification number on the $15,000 copy suggests it was graded under modern, harsher PSA standards, which often commands a premium over older certifications.

🔵 BGS 10 Art Academy Goomy Sells for $30k

Listing

This Goomy card features one of several winning illustrations from the 2015 Pokémon Art Academy competition, where entrants submitted artwork created using the Nintendo 3DS game. Despite Goomy being niche with regards to popularity, this card’s exclusivity makes it a "trophy card," as only 100 copies were printed and awarded directly to the winning artist - Mio Muroi.

Origin Source - Year: Pokémon Art Academy Competition - 2015

Market Insight: With only 100 copies in existence, this $30,000 result simply reflects the extreme demand for "trophy cards" where supply is strictly capped and past sales might not have any impact on future sales.

😴 Sleeper Pick

Battle Styles - Empoleon V (Alternate Art) #146

PSA 10 - 2951 pop / 4420 total - $170 avg.

Ungraded - $55 avg. for near mint condition

Over the past ~6 months, the PSA 10 price has slowly crept up to ~$170, yet it remains one of the few Sword & Shield era Alternate Arts obtainable for under $200 in a PSA 10 or comparable grades from other companies. Battle Styles is often overlooked because of a lack of many chase cards (aside from Tyranitar of course), leaving this intricate "training camp" artwork (featuring Falinks and Mienfoo) undervalued despite featuring a popular Sinnoh starter.

📜 Poké History

In October 2021, The Pokémon Company revealed official "V" cards for Katy Perry, Post Malone, and J Balvin as part of the P25 Music campaign. While these cards were never mass-produced for the public, physical copies were printed exclusively for the artists, making them effectively "1-of-1" promotional items and the rarest in TCG history.
