In a testament to the enduring value of "Holy Grail" Pokémon cards, a nearly destroyed Charizard Star (Gold Star) from the 2006 EX Dragon Frontiers set recently sold on eBay for $550.

Despite being described by the seller as "trashed" and "the world’s worst" copy, the card found a buyer willing to overlook severe water damage, warping, and a back that had almost entirely delaminated. While an ungraded copy in decent condition typically fetches around $1,800, this sale proves that for iconic cards like the Charizard Gold Star, collectors are often willing to pay a premium just to own a piece of history regardless of its "identifiable" state.
