🔵 Creatures Inc. Announces Japanese Booster Pack Price Hike

Creatures Inc. has announced that the Japanese Pokémon Trading Card Game booster packs for sets released after May 2026 will rise from 180 yen to 200 yen due to rising material costs and other factors, with 30-pack booster boxes likely increasing from 5,400 yen to 6,000 yen (about $4 more per box).

It is the first pack MSRP increase since October 2022 (the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet era), and it is still unclear whether The Pokémon Company International will mirror any changes outside Japan. (Source: PokeBeach)

A Connecticut journalist received a shock delivery when a shipping tube containing a rare 1999 1st Edition Machamp uncut sheet arrived at his doorstep by mistake. The vintage production item, which features 110 copies of the specific holo card found in the original 2-Player Starter Set, is estimated to be worth thousands of dollars.

🔵 Pokémon cards help boy through cancer treatment

Seven-year-old Dylan Jeffs found comfort in opening Pokémon card packs during years of acute lymphoblastic leukaemia treatment at Birmingham Children’s Hospital, giving him something to look forward to during intensive chemotherapy and a way to stay connected while isolated.

After ringing the end-of-treatment bell in April 2024, Dylan relapsed months later and underwent a stem cell transplant using a cord blood match; his mum Rachael said her instincts caught the relapse early, and the family credits Pokémon cards with helping him stay motivated and reconnect with friends once he returned to school. 📜 Poké History

The e-Reader era used dot-code borders that could be scanned with a Nintendo e-Reader to unlock extra content like Pokédex info and mini apps. Many cards split this into a short strip for tips and a long strip for downloadable features. For example, Koffing (Expedition 114/165) could load Construction: Melody Box pattern data that changed the visuals while music played.
