July 6th - July 12th, 2026 📰 TCG News Note: Some updates may touch on wider Pokémon news beyond the TCG. 🔵 McDonald’s Japan Teases Next Pokemon x Happy Meal Promotion! McDonald’s Japan has teased its next Pokemon promotion, posting emoji for the Starter Pokemon and Pikachu on Twitter and updating its profile banner with Pikachu’s ears. Most years the promotion just includes plastic Pokemon toys, but last year’s was the first in a decade to distribute promo cards, giving customers a booster pack with a new Pikachu promo plus one of five stamped promos (Sprigatito, Fuecoco, Quaxly, Ralts, or Riolu). That 2025 campaign was cut short after demand far outstripped supply, marred by long lines, scalping, food waste, and reports of employee theft. It remains unclear whether cards will return this year or whether McDonald’s will change its distribution to better handle TCG demand. 🔵 GameStop slashes Pokémon TCG 30th anniversary prices after widespread outrage After listing its Pokemon 30th anniversary products well above retail, then raising them further to $169.99 for an Elite Trainer Box (340% of the $49.99 MSRP), GameStop reversed course on July 10th and cut prices across the board. The ETB dropped to $99.99 and the Ultra Premium Collection fell from $600 to $399.99, still above retail but closer to typical market rates. GameStop gave no official reason, though some employees speculated preorder volumes fell short of expectations. Its EB Games branch framed the cuts as an anti-scalper strategy, and customers who preordered at the old prices can get a refund or apply the difference elsewhere, with a two-per-item limit still in place. 🔵 Mega Golisopod ex, Wishiwashi ex, and Another Split Stadium from “Storm Emeralda” Revealed! New cards have been revealed from Japan’s Storm Emeralda, which releases July 31st and arrives in the English set Delta Reign on November 6th. The reveals include Mega Golisopod ex, a Grass-type with 340 HP whose Finishing Blow does 60+ damage and 160 more against a damaged Active Pokemon, alongside Wishiwashi ex, a Water-type with a self-healing Ocean Gain Ability. The set also introduces another paired Stadium, Legendary Ocean Trench, which only enters play alongside its other half and doubles all healing while in play. Supporting cards like Aarune and the Custom Vest tool round out the reveal. 📈 Card Trends Source: Price data provided by TCGPlayer.com and chart visual provided by TCGMarketNews.com (which sources data from TCGPlayer).
