🔵 NYC Pokémon Card Store Robbed, Then Forced to Rebrand by Nintendo

The Poké Court, a Pokémon card shop in New York City owned by Courtney Chin, was robbed by three armed, masked individuals during a community event roughly a month ago, with over $100,000 in merchandise stolen from smashed glass displays.

Shortly after, Nintendo contacted Chin over trademark concerns with the store's name and Poké Ball logo, forcing a rebrand. The store is now called The Trainer Court and will celebrate the change with a reopening event on February 27, 2026 (Pokémon Day), just 36 blocks from Nintendo NY's own Pokémon Day event. 🔵 TPCi to Acquire Major U.S. TCG Distributor Excell Brands

The Pokémon Company International (TPCi) has entered a definitive agreement to acquire Excell Brands, its largest U.S. distribution partner. This strategic move aims to improve product accessibility and fulfillment as both companies celebrate their 30th anniversaries in 2026.

Excell currently manages TCG retail for giants like Target, Walmart, and Amazon, and will continue to operate independently while leveraging TPCi’s investment in systems and service. 🔵 Hand-Embroidered Pokémon Card Pillow Goes Viral

A Pokémon fan has gained significant community attention after sharing a custom, hand-embroidered "Aron" card pillow created as a 30th birthday gift. The project took approximately 300 hours of manual labor to complete and features a unique pun on the recipient's name, "Aaron."

Every detail was hand-stitched, including intricate bottom text that required the creator to split individual strands of thread to achieve the necessary scale. The card includes custom abilities and descriptions inspired by the friend’s personality, such as a "Soundproof" ability referencing a habit of wearing earplugs. (Source: GameRant)

Released in July 2000, this Japanese expansion is titled “Crossing the Ruins…” and is the second set of the Neo era. Unlike its English counterpart, every 10-card booster pack in this Japanese release features a guaranteed holo card.

😴 Sleeper Pick

Over the past ~6 months, the price has recently cooled following a brief spike tied to “callback” art in the Mega Evolution set, making this an ideal time to pick it up.

There are 6 rev. foil copies in a PSA 10 and 3 normal copies in a PSA 10 so graded copies are not worth mentioning here. However, this card is more of a signal that any card regardless of rarity could have its moment to spike. It is also a good lesson in buying the card you like.
